Today we visited the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg where the Nuremberg Trials took place. I thought it was very interesting to learn about the logistics of the trials and what went on during them. I was impressed by the efforts to make the trials fair. Also, I thought it was interesting that photographs of the executed men were made public in order to prove that they were punished adequately.
After the Palace of Justice, we spoke with a survivor of the Holocaust. It was utterly heartbreaking to listen to her story. As I was listening, I couldn't even imagine what it would have been like to have had to live through that...and then just go back to life after the camp was liberated. Overall, I thought it was important to listen to the survivor to further understand the Holocaust.
