For the past two days we have been learning about the rise of Hitler's national socialist party in Munich. On Wednesday we took a basic tour of Munich and then later on in the day we went to the exhibit on national socialism in the Stadtmuseum. Additionally we took a walking tour around Munich to see different sites throughout the city that were significant to the rise of national socialism.
I found it amazing that so many places in Munich such as the Hofbräuhaus were actually meeting places for different societies that were involved with Hitler. We got to go to the top floor of the Hofbräuhaus, a major tourist attraction, where Hitler stated the program for the NSDAP. Had it not been pointed out to me, I would have had no idea that Hitler and his Nazi party had stood in that building 80 years before.
