Last night we arrived in Warsaw after a very long and stressful train ride. But today was our first full day here in Poland and it was really enjoyable. First we met our awesome guide Matt who walked with us around Warsaw and told us about different aspects of the architecture and the culture. I really liked the old part of Warsaw which had a ton of cafes, shops and markets.
After that we went to a museum about the Warsaw Uprising in World War II. Today was National Children's Day in Poland so there were a ton of kids in the museum learning about Polish history. The museum had a lot going on and was very interactive: it had a 3D movie, various different rooms with soundscapes and objects, and various other exhibits. In the basement there was also a mock system of tunnels which was meant to mimic the sewer system that people in Warsaw had to utilize to escape. It was a pretty successful first day in Warsaw and later we are going back into the Old Town to get some authentic Polish food (yum).
